Hello! Welcome to my virtual practice! I am a California native residing in Virginia. I completed undergrad at Xavier University of Louisiana and my graduate studies at the California School of Professional Psychology. My focus was on multicultural and community clinical psychology which aided in developing my passion for treating BIPOC and other stigmatized communities. I spent years working on U.S. military installations (inpatient and outpatient) and military family clinics where I gained expertise in treating issues most commonly experienced by military personnel, veterans, and their families/spouses. America's maternal mental health crisis and my desire to positively impact and give back to BIPOC communities led me to further my education in perinatal mental health. My diverse background and educational experiences enable me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care for a myriad of mental health conditions. My focus is to help individuals heal, become aware of their inner strengths, and prosper. Though I work with all, I specialize in the treatment of BIPOC adults with issues related to perinatal mental health, trauma, adjustment, anxiety, depression, and suicide. I have a passion for enhancing the psychological wellbeing and functioning of historically underserved, stigmatized, and oppressed groups. My therapeutic style is direct but empathic, inclusive, and professional. I strive for a safe, strength-based and collaborative treatment setting where cultural components are integrated and respected, and treatment is tailored to fit.
I take a holistic approach to therapy, considering the physical, emotional, cultural, and social factors that can impact mental health. My goal is to help my clients develop the skills and resilience they need to navigate life's challenges, grow from their struggles, heal from their pain, and move forward to living their best life. My methods include cognitive-behavioral therapy, to include but not limited to, solution-focused, mindfulness-based, trauma-informed, and positive psychology interventions.
